The tankbusters' mobility was second only to the high-speed aircraft of the time, but soon the early mechanized units and powered suits would become the weapons of choice as early blackout technology was devised and implemented in combat. In addition, air-to-ground weaponry and altitude limitations were set for combat aircraft by the global paramilitary deterrence force, OSCR, which controls the two remaining weapons satellites.
Once aircraft were essentially taken out of the military equation, battles were decided by the highly-mobile and heavily armored main battle tanks, and powered suits that dominated infantry. Missile defense systems and blackout technology rendered long-range attacks on tanks ineffective unless using heavy artillery, but no force had any clear technical advantage, because weapon calibers were also limited by OSCR. Any gains by one side were slight and short-lived. Wars became stagnant, long lasting.
Countries across the globe utilized effective area denial weapons that limited the mobility of even the most maneuverable tanks. The Federation of Saiterra was the first to develop large-size heavily armored powered suits that could counter both the tanks and the challenges posed by the ADW's. Eventually, the sizes increased to that of small gunships, and thus the first generation of mecha became widespread.
